DRAGONFORCE SPLIT WITH SINGER ZP THEART

It is with great regret that DragonForce announce a parting of the ways with singer ZP Theart. This is due to insurmountable differences of musical opinion but the rest of the band sincerely wish ZP great success with his future projects.

While the creative core members have begun writing the fifth album, they have also started a worldwide search for a new vocalist. “We are looking for a powerful melodic singer, to write a new chapter of DragonForce with us.” said guitarist Herman Li.

Anyone wishing to audition for the vacant position should apply following the instructions at this web address www.dragonforce.com/audition

    Unlucky Dragonforce but maybe this is for the best…
    In some cases he was making the band seem not as good but there’s plenty more vocallists out there.

    this is a bad bad day for all of us…dragonforce without zp ? i can´t really imagine that…i hope they find someone who has nearly the same voice…it would be great when tobias sammet gets the new singer but i don´t think this will happen…i really hope they find a good one…but we will never forget zp…not just because we will listen to all of his new projects :) …but it´s very sad that they splitted :(

    I’m sure that even though it won’t be exactly the DragonForce we all knew, they’ll be great when they find a new vocalist. ZP too, it’s sad they they split, but I’m sure that he’ll do great with his new projects.

    The next album MIGHT be a big of a sucess as Ultra Beatdown, but I highly doub’t the tour will be. First Power Quest, than this!?

    i want to join everyone in wishing ZP the best with everything he ever does. He is a credit to himself. I just want to say that his voice along with the rest of DF has changed my life so I want to thank ZP and the rest of the band for their amazing music. ZP will be sorely missed.

    Wow, I can’t explain how bummed I am by this. I just got back into DragonForce mode from the Valley of the Damned remaster and I couldn’t believe how good ZP sounded. Now I find this out…damnit man. DragonForce is incredible. I hope this doesn’t stop them from succeeding. Same to ZP.

    You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me. This fucking unawesome. It’s so suckish, in fact, I need to make up a word: GryiatoZePacious. Yeah, that’s good. Well, I guess it is part of the evolutions all bands go through. Whether or not this is for the best or for the worst is a big gamble we’ll have to wait for next year to find its outcome. What makes DragonForce what it is, is the musical harmony and the lyrics. But like any real fan of any band, I do not judge until I hear. Hopefully ZP also finds a good path. If this is the right choice for both ZP and the band, then be it. A new decade will turn in a new tone.

    horrible news, IMO ZP’s voice was what made DragonForce epic.
    Don’t think their gigs will be the same anymore, but we’ll see, I hope they stay the same style.

    This really sucks. He is an amazing singer.
    this is one of the problems of having a band where everyone is a virtuoso, if one leaves, it is a major chunk that can never be replaced.
    I’m sure they will find a great replacement. this is not the first time dragonforce had to find a new member, yet this will be the most noticeable.

    Best of Luck to ZP, I’m sure we will hear something great from him in the future. If not, as a fan, I will always welcome him back to DF.

    I just want to say good luck to Sam, Herman, Fred, Dave and Vadim. DragonForce now has a huge Void due to the departure of the legendary ZP, and you guys are going to have your work cut out for you trying to find someone good enough to replace him. I will continue to listen to DragonForce because I am with you until the end, but a part of the band, and me, died today. I just wish I had seen you guys in concert before this had happened. We’re counting on you now, guys. Find someone worthy to call himself the frontman of DragonForce, and allow yourselves to reclaim your throne as Gods of Metal! For eternity! \m/

    I feel like i’m gonna throw up. I saw the guys live twice in Glasgow and… well ZP made it. the atmosphere, the music, everything. I worship Herman and Sam as Gods but ZP was the middle man, he brought the music to the crowds. Good luck to him and especially to DF, they’re gonna need it if they want a suitable replacement.

    The last time a band I liked replaced their singer (Nightwish) it ended horribly.
    DragonForce can’t meet the same fate!! It doesn’t matter if he wasn’t the most important member behind-the-scenes, but he’s called the “frontman” for a reason. His voice is the main part of their songs, his voice MADE them who they are!!

God i sit here listening to Dragonforce for a lot of my day Just wishing i had ZP Thearts Voice. The Band will never be the same and will never even come close to the awesomeness it had with ZP in it. This has just Destroyed my day….     I feel like a piece of my heart went with ZP today. DragonForce is hands-down my favorite band in the world, and without ZP they just won’t be the same. I’m devastated by this news… simply heartbroken. I was stoked for the new album and was looking forward to seeing DF live for the 3rd time on their next tour, because front row seats at the last two shows I saw them at weren’t enough.

    You guys have your work cut out for you in finding a new singer that can live up to ZP’s legacy, it’s not going to be the DF I fell in love with. I’ll stick with you through this decision because I’m a huge fan and didn’t just jump on the bandwagon because “TTFAF” was on Guitar Hero. But ZP will be sorely, sorely missed.

    Cannot happen. He is too valuable. Dragonforce without ZP? Unthinkable. A bassist, a drummer, a keyboardist, all of these are unnoticeable enough to be able to replace easily. But a lead singer? The lead singer is a huge part of what makes the band. Without it’s lead singer, a band is never the same. Take Nightwish, for example.

    I may possibly start cutting myself. I cannot begin to explain how upset i am with this. I am one of the VERY few hardcore fans of Dragonforce at my school. I have worn a hoodie with the Dragonforce shield nearly every day since i have gotten it. My dream was to see Dragonforce live. I almost had the opportunity this year when they came to the house of blues in Chicago, but was unable to attend do to driving complications. I now have to face the realization that I will NEVER get to see the Dragonforce I know and Love perform live. My heart has been shattered and i am in tears as i write this. i wish ZP the best of luck of course, but i beg him if he is reading this to please possibly reconsider. Please do not leave ZP, you are a part of Dragonforce’s very soul and the hearts of all your fans. Please return, my Dragonforce…

    I cant belive it….. ZP is an amazing vocalist. The greatest of them all!

    I was just making the comment earlier this week that Dragonforce could have a long and illustrious career is they don’t self-destruct first. Looks like the beginning of self-destruction to me. So many bands can work together for years despite some of the member’s differences — and they even feed off those differences creatively. It was so cool to see some unique twists on “UltraBeatdown” that may have come from some such ‘differences’. I’m not saying that this is the beginning of the end of DF, but it is NOT a good sign!! The band needs to be THE BAND in order to capitalize on their success.

    ZP was a good singer, we all agree, but if the band want to go in another direction, should just stop moaning and let em XD… think about how guns n roses started :P And how loads of people wanted the players concerened to go back to their original bands.     Once when I was 11 I was surfing the web and found a site called mp3.com, on that site i found a group called Dragonheart, they had just released an EP.
    When I heard it the major things I fell for was the voice and the lyrics with the cool guitars.

    I doubt that anyone will ever sing Where dragons rule or any other songs from valley of the damned as magical as ZP.

    All my dreams since that day when I was 11 have been created by Dragonforces special sound and lyrics.

    ZP’s Dragonforce will always have a special place in my dragonheart.

    I always thought that Herman is the guy what I really adore in this band (the whole band is still awesome), but now I know that you, ZP, are as much great as Herman in my opinion.

    Many people say that DF’s music is too fast to listen, but to me, it’s calming and now I know that it’s all about his voice. Listening to ZP’s voice makes my day perfect, even if I had a bad day. ZP’s the first singer who I really like.

    I’m going to buy all the albums and give all the support to your new band. I can’t wait ’till it comes out.

    But still, actually, It’s quite exiting to hear DF with another singer. I just hoped that ZP would have maked the vocals into the fifth album. I waited it so much.

    I live in Sparta,Greece. Me an my buddy are the biggest DF fans around here. When he called me to message me the tragic news I was shocked and I still am in shock. I think that ZP was the one who this band so special, unlike ALL the other power metal bands…..You could understand it at the fist listening….The first thing I did was to watch their Grasspop 09 Last Journey Home live. That was when the first drop from my eye fell….I feel very sad about what happened…I think time heels all the wounds….I DragonForce find a new singer with breaking-through voice too.     ZP Theart was the single-best power metal vocalist the world has ever produced – Make no mistake, I mean every word of it.

    I was lucky enough to see ZP with the guys twice – and I don’t care who you get it, where he’s from, whatever the hell his voice sounds like, nobody could possibly perform a better stage show, and a better musical singing voice than ZP THEART. I couldn’t give an asswipe whoever the hell you pull out the box next. HE’S not as good as HIM. End of. Bring him back or you aren’t DragonForce. It’s a completely different band without him.

    Fuck DragonForce. If you are going to go out on a limb and get rid of the best singer you will ever have, at least give us more details as to why, instead of hiding behind your Studio.

    This is going to be the biggest mistake you as a band will ever make. ZP was the “voice” of the band for over 10 years and now you toss him aside. I dont give a shit who you bring in to replace him with, it will never be the same.

    As far as I’m concerned, with this revelation, and that fact that it seems you want to move in a different direction – DragonForce is dead.

    You guys are right in that yea, there is a small change (less then 10% I wanna say) that this new vocalist will be better than ZP (lol GL) assuming Dragonforce doesnt change its musical style completely, too.

    Reading the other comments made me feel a little better that I, too, broke down and cried when I found out . . . ZP’s voice was the one that made me fall in love with Dragonforce. What a rocking set of pipes.

    Replacing him will be an impossible task. Technically, he’s ridiculously good. Range-wise, he brings crazy versatility to the table. And let’s face it, ZP was the sex symbol for Dragonforce. (Herman Li, you’re awesome ‘n’ all, but hardly a sex symbol.) Not only was he tall, dark, and mysterious, but his voice was absolute, pure sex.

    When I saw Dragonoforce live in Worcester, I didn’t really even like ZP, although I loved his voice. But from the moment he stepped on the stage, I couldn’t rip my eyes off of him, and it wasn’t just the leather pants that were one size too small . . . what an eclectic, energetic stage presence. Then he called me out in the middle of the concert to go jump in the mosh pit (ha, ha, yeah right!), and when I refused, he tried to douse me with water. He failed — I was about three feet too far away — and he looked all hurt. Later, I was so mad at myself — ZP Theart told me to do something and I refused?! (If I ever see him again, guaranteed that will be the ONLY time I refuse him just about anything!)

    Wherever he lands, I will follow. I think I’d almost rather see Dragonforce go without a lead singer at all than try to replace him. No one could ever live up the standard that he set. Good luck ZP — if you made an album of you singing a cappella, I think it’s pretty clear we’d all buy it! Do whatever makes you happy, man.

    Come on guys, losing ZP sucks but it isn’t that bad. Nightwish anyone? They’re still going strong with Anette. DragonForce is about the solos, it’s about Herman and Sam shredding it up, they will find a new vocalist and continue to dominate. On that note, I would love to follow ZP’s new career, but still hope we get a singer who is just as good, or even better. Also, I doubt they just “screwed him” and “threw him aside”. If he left, there is a solid reason.

    I don’t know where this came from so suddenly. I do know this can either mean the death of DragonForce as we know it, or a sudden and great improvement. ZP was chosen from a bunch of singers, and if he decides this is just not what he wants in life, so be it. It shouldn’t be that one member of the band feels like sh!t, or makes the other feel like they aren’t doing what they are supposed to. Imho, there are plenty of singers who can do what ZP can, but there’s going to be a huge challenge in getting the balance back in DF. The very balance that makes them the bloody best!

    I saw you guys the first time in the club “Underground” (Cologne) in the year 2006. It was mind-blowing. I grant you that the long soli were hard at the beginning (I didn’t play the guitar at this time.) but there was a person who brought these long and complicated songs to the crowd and through people who were not such guitar freaks. This person was ZP Theart. His exceptional voice and his charisma made DragonForce to the band which it used to be and this band was perfect. Everything was perfect: the music, the lyrics and these overwhelming concerts.

    And now you tell us: “Herman Li will visit the “Musikmesse” in Frankfurt and, by the way, ZP Theart leaves the band, we are looking for a new singer.” What the fuck?!
    Maybe we should thank you for telling us this “unimportant” message.
    And, yeah, I am so sorry for you guys, because it seems to hurt you so much… Fuck you!
    I think it was the biggest mistake DragonForce ever did but maybe you are able to find a reasonable substitute for ZP Theart. It seems to be impossible but you should never stop to believe in miracles.
    In my opinion DragonForce is dead…

    ZP Theart, I hope you will start a new project (solo, singer of a new [metal] band) and (!) that the project or the news about a new project will reach Germany. Yeah, I think that would be nice. Such a voice should not be concealing. ;)

    why did you split with ZP? yes i know you said because of “musical differences”, but i think there is more to it then just that. I’m sure all of your fans want to hear why. and i’m sure you know by now that you have lost a lot of respect from all of your fans and will have to gain it back. seeing ZP leave was really sad to see, but couldn’t you guys COMPROMISE SOMEWHERE!?!?! I’ve noticed that one of your influences is Metallica, so i’d like to say this: what if James Hetfield left Metallica? you’d be pretty fucking pissed, I’m sure. and instead of just saying what happened to ZP in just 3-4 sentences, why don’t you guys state something more, like what’s ZP Theart’s new project is, or called, or where he’s at with his career so that way fans can continue to follow ZP? then maybe you wouldn’t lose AS much as respect from all your fans. don’t get me wrong, i still wish DragonForce luck as well as ZP. but i do not know if you know of the band “Nightwish”. a while ago the split with their lead singer, and for a couple of years, they’ve struggled to get the approval of their fans, so i hope you’re ready to face that as well, seeing that, like all singers, ZP is the “idol” of the band, because the singer is the first thing the fans see and associate the singer directly with the band. and also (i’m sure you’re hoping for this too): find a good singer that has a voice somewhere in the same league as ZP’s, seeing that you’ve let down A LOT of fans. again good luck to DragonForce, and especially ZP

    Wtf, I am so FUCKING shocked, I AM 120% sure that everybody is.

    Dragonforce is known for their really fast solos and so on, but the voice is the heart of the band, wtf :( I love his voice so much, and I am SOOO FUCKING depressed right now. Dragonforce with ZP Theart IS the best band in the world, and it would (NOT WILL) be a HUGE change without him. Just look at Nightwish, are they as unique and famous as before? Don’t think so. Please ZP come back, the band and the whole world needs you, so badly. We love you.

    Differences? Where can there be differences? ZP is not only one of the best and powerfull singers I ever heared, he is a very nice person at all!
    It will never be the same without ZP. Of course the music behind the Lyrics is great and ZP is verry good too, but what made me listen to DragonForce is the combination of both.
    I hope you dont get back to the shit vocalist style you have had in times of Demoniac. Its is a catastrophe to hear about the split.

    i absolutely love you guys and i cannot believe ZP wouldn’t want to be in such a kick ass band. oh well, it is his loss. I LOVE DRAGONFORCE, you guys rock. Can’t wait until 2011. hurray for album number five!

    you know what fuck you bich dragonforce will never be the same again with out ZP he was the best ever I’m not going to lisen to the isth album because ZP isn’t in it! but I will always love ZP if he does anything tell us becaues everybody would wnt to know!     please come back ZP, you are an amazing singer. Dragonforce won’t be the same without you, you have always been a great frontman, i’ve loved you guys since the valley of the damned came out and i’ve always found your voice very soothing, and it makes me feel triumphant, like nothing could ever be wrong.
    i hope df’s new singer doesn’t screw up this amazing band. good luck to the band for album no. 5 and ZP on whatever it is he wants to do.
